Do I need Crysis 3 to play the DLC? Yes, so if you don’t already own the game, now is the perfect time to get in on the action!
Can I play the DLC maps without purchasing the DLC? No, although you’ll obviously still have access to all the game’s standard multiplayer modes and challenges.
Is the DLC required to play Crysis 3 online? No, you'll still be able to play C3 Multiplayer without purchasing the DLC. If you don't purchase the DLC, your regular C3 experience isn't affected.
What is included in the Lost Island DLC?
4 New Crysis themed maps
Ascent: A lush mountainside ridge with incredible views over the island
Coastline: An idyllic fishing village sitting on the shores of the ocean
Creek: A stream runs through this tropical banana plantation
Crossing: A night time KPA base situated on the banks of a jungle river
2 exciting new game modes
Frenzy: A deathmatch variant where every player is assigned the same random loadout every 60 seconds. Players build up multipliers by getting kills; kill another player to steal his multiplier. It's a race to the score limit to win. This one is a real leveller.
Possession: Capture and hold the flag for longer than the enemy. The flag also happens to be a rip and throw pole!
2 new weapons
Rhino: An Semi-Auto shotgun that fits between the Jackal and Marshal
Claw: A powerful assault rifle that sits between the SCAR and Grendel
Lost Island Feed New achievements New dogtags
Can the DLC weapons be used in normal games? No, the new DLC weapons are only available in multiplayer.
What are the details on the new weapons (relative damage, ROF, strengths/weaknesses), and which attachments can they use? The CLAW is the heavier brother of the SCAR. It packs a drum magazine for extended periods of fire and bridges the gap between the SCAR and Mk60.
The RHINO is a semi automatic shotgun, packing a fair punch provided you can keep it on target. It sits between the Marshal and Jackal in its effectiveness.
Do the DLC maps also support all existing Crysis 3 gamemodes? Yes! All modes are supported on all maps.
Do the existing maps support the new gamemodes? Even for non-DLC owners? ie: Can I create an "All Frenzy" server including any Crysis 3 map? Can non-DLC players play the non-DLC part of it? Existing maps will support the new gamemodes but only for DLC owners. You can create an "All Frenzy" server including any map you like. Non-DLC players aren't able to join any servers running DLC maps or modes - it just gets too complicated and frustrating.
Will the DLC maps be automatically included in the standard rotations, and what happens to non-DLC owners when the DLC maps come up for vote? Similarly with PC, will the DLC just show up in existing level rotations and exclude players who don’t have it? DLC has its own set of playlists that include both DLC and original maps. We have set it so a DLC map always appears in the vote. As mentioned above, non-DLC players will not be able to join any of these playlists so you don't ever have a situation where a player without DLC is kicked from the server for not paying for the extra content.
Servers on PC running DLC content will similarly not be joinable for those who don't have it. The server filter has an option to find or not find servers with DLC enabled. There's also a new icon on the browser to show if a server has DLC content enabled.
Where can I find server documentation on the DLC changes/enhancements? The documentation for the server will be in the updated server documentation.
Are there any new standard variants? Frenzy is a variant of the deathmatch game mode, otherwise no.
Are there any restrictions on creating custom playlists? If you own the DLC, no. Non DLC owners can't create custom playlists without purchasing the DLC.
Regarding Frenzy, does this mode choose randomly from all weapons/modules or from a predefined subset? Are there secondary weapons and/or explosives? Is there a Team variant? It chooses randomly from all weapons and almost all modules (some don't make sense to have in this mode). There are no secondary weapons and no explosives – every player must use the same weapon at all times! There isn't a team variant, we felt that we lots of team-based modes (7 of 11) in the game so we'd focus on some individual based gameplay instead.
Are the new Oar and Flag weapons more or less powerful than Poles? Exactly the same.
Are there cool interactive things in these maps too? Yes, we've got radar sweeps, explosive stuff and a crazy, out of control boat!
